“Molecular Aspects of Malignant Melanoma”

Malignant Melanoma (MM) is a deadly form of pigmented skin cancer that is increasingly common in young adults. UV exposure is a known risk factor and there is increasing evidence for genetic involvement.  Our research aims to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of MM and develop novel therapeutic strategies. Currently, we are studying the role of microRNAs (miRNAs) in MM as well as using RNA interference (RNAi) and novel tools for RNAi drug delivery to develop treatments for MM.  Combined exposure to basic and clinical methods provides a truly translational research experience.
