“Roles of tumor suppressors and oncogenes in cancer development, progression, and therapy”
Inactivation of tumor suppressor genes and activation of oncogenes is linked to development and progression of cancer. This underscores the importance of identifying these genes and elucidating their involvement in cancer cell signalling. We are studying the novel Hippo-LATS signalling pathway including tumor suppressors (LATS1/2 hMOB1, Mst1/2, hEx) and oncogenes (YAP, TAZ, Itch, Cyr61, CTGF) and examining their roles in breast and lung cancer initiation, metastasis, and response to chemotherapeutics. Methods include cell culture and xenograft mouse models, tissue microarrays, molecular cloning, DNA microarrays, proteomics and RNAi-mediated gene silencing. |
